Fate or coincidence? I actually don’t believe in either. I do believe in Purpose, though. I believe paths are meant to be crossed for very specific reasons. What I don’t always know, is who is really watching, listening, and receiving in that moment. The power in that mystery keeps me intentional in my delivery of words and actions. We influence people around us all the time unknowingly, and many times we are an important part of the reason someone looks deep inside themselves and opens the door to explore and pursue their passion of making a difference in the world.
This is what happened with Erika. Just a few years ago, I was in Toronto delivering a performance at a huge conference for Meeting Planners. It was on this day, as on almost every day that I’m speaking, that I shared my Purpose quote, “Your purpose is not what you do. Your purpose is what happens in others when you do what you do” and that little gem stirred Erika. It joined with some other things going on in her life at that time to spark an inner yearning for something more, something bigger, something with greater impact.
As we go deeper into Women’s History Month, I believe you’ll be inspired by Erika’s journey of purpose and how it ignited a movement that currently helps and empowers other female entrepreneurs. Erika’s vision of helping others while creating a big, bold community, is in step with her “legacy of kindness” mission. I think we can all agree that kindness is something the world needs more of. Grab some coffee, sit back and listen to Erika’s story. You might just hear yours.
